This episode touched me in a certain way more than a two-parter episode of some male- infested Equine Circus for Girls, or any other television series, in a little under 11 minutes. With this episode being aired during a time when the shtick was getting stale and uninteresting, a change of voice actors for the two main characters, and the show slowly becoming a softer Regular Show, it was a breath of fresh air, as well as setting new standards for Gumball.
#WATCH AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL THE SELL SERIES#
Before "The Shell", Gumball was a child-oriented series involving visual gags and slapstick, retro pop culture references, some cutesy banter between the characters. Ever since then, I have watched every episode of The Amazing World of Gumball and Thursday night was anticipated for years. The older brother gives up and gives in, if only his sister and by-standing brother joins him. Two siblings of two different species forcefully dilate their eyes to persuade one another into retrieving a doll from a T- Rex. In April 2011, I stumbled across a clip from an upcoming Cartoon Network show. The comedy in the episode is also very good as usual, and is balanced well with the drama, tying the whole thing together neatly. It was nice to see their first kiss handled so well after showing their mutual attraction for 2 and a half seasons. It's poignant, heartwarming, and I found myself thoroughly invested in both Penny and Gumball's character growth.

He consoles Penny in a rather tender moment, helping her accept her real self, and she returns to her true appearance as they finally share their first kiss. Gumball pursues a distressed Penny through Elmore as she swaps between a number of beastly appearances, until he can finally confront her near the end of the episode. However, a misunderstanding causes her to suffer serious issues regarding her self-image, believing she is a hideous monster, with her appearance changing to match this belief. Gumball convinces Penny to leave her shell, revealing her true appearance, as well as her ability to shapeshift based on how she feels. It marks a major change for Penny's character, as well as kick-starting her relationship with her long-time mutual crush Gumball. The Shell is a fantastic entry in the series. This episode is beautiful and it just shows why I love Gumball in general. And Gumball is actually really smart in this episode, he tells Fitzgerald that Penny can't stay in her shell any longer and needs to embrace her future relationship with Gumball and to let her do what makes her happy. This episode truly showed great comedy but most importantly a great message. Gumball's touching words make him realize Penny needs to not be afraid anymore, he goes after Penny while Richard, Nicole, Darwin, and Anais are on the chase and then he tells Penny what he really thinks by having their first ever kiss. Fitzgerald comes and witnesses Penny's true form making her feel worse, but this time, Gumball big time confronts Fitzgerald and tells him to shut up and listen. She already assumes Gumball thinks she's ugly and flies off while everyone else calls her ugly.

Penny's dad Fitzgerald is angry at him and grounds Penny while Gumball starts standing up. Gumball mistakenly cracks her shell and feels ashamed of himself for the accident. It's about Penny, Gumball's love interest, at the Elmore play.
